ACL Reconstruction cost in India
Accredited hospitals in India quote $3,200 – $5,800 as an inpatient package for this procedure. Where you sit in that band depends on the hospital, the surgeon, the implant or drug protocol and the room category you choose.
| Country | Indicative package range (USD) | Versus India |
|---|---|---|
| India | $3,200 – $5,800 | |
| Turkey | $5,500 – $9,000 | |
| United Arab Emirates | $10,000 – $16,000 | |
| United Kingdom (private) | $9,000 – $14,000 | |
| United States | $15,000 – $28,000 |
What the procedure involves
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is an arthroscopic (keyhole) procedure that replaces a torn ligament with a graft, most commonly taken from the patient's own hamstring or patellar tendon, or occasionally a donor tendon. It is indicated for younger, active patients with instability, and is often combined with meniscus repair if the meniscus is also torn.
The operation itself is a smaller part of the outcome than the rehabilitation that follows. Return to pivoting sport is not permitted before nine months in most protocols, and rushing this timeline is the leading cause of graft re-rupture. A responsible surgeon will state this plainly rather than promise an early return to competitive sport.

Recovery and trip timeline
Day 0–1
Arthroscopic surgery, knee brace fitted, weight-bearing as advised, discharge.
Week 1–2
Swelling control, wound review, gentle range-of-motion exercises begin.
Week 3–6
Brace weaning, quadriceps strengthening, stationary cycling introduced.
Month 3–6

What drives a good outcome
- Graft choice matched to the patient's age, activity level and any associated meniscus damage.
- Restoring full quadriceps strength before progressing rehabilitation, not just time since surgery.
- Passing objective strength and hop-test criteria before clearance to return to sport.
- Addressing any meniscus or cartilage damage found at the time of surgery.
